Trip to Georgia and Florida

My mom, Addy, and I flew to Georgia. Our main destination was Florida for my Grandma Slayton's memorial service, but we visited with Byron's family and G&G Richardson as well.

Addy was very active on the plane, climbing up on my shoulders and wanting to "play" with the people behind us. She wasn't overly grumpy, just wiggly. I can see how traveling with a child who can walk would present a challenge, because she couldn't walk, but still kept wanting to get down and crawl in the aisle.

We drove down to Florida, I say we, but my mom drove the entire way. We took two days to drive down and only one on the way back. Mom was a trooper. Addy did very well, especially with the DVD player and Baby Einstein movies. The Memorial Service was wonderful and it was great to see lots of relatives who we don't get to see very often.

We stayed with Byron and Amber for a few days. It was great to see Mikayla, Makenzie, and Buddy again. Addy loved Buddy. I was trying to take a picture of them together and Addy just wouldn't stop looking at him and everywhere else.

We got to go to the beach, go on walks, see Makenzie at dance, see Mikayla at karate, and generally just hang out. I love visiting family! Their new addition to their house is great. Mom slept in there and Addy and I took over Mikayla's room.

My dad left his hat at his parent's house so we got to bring it home with us. We couldn't fit it in our luggage, so someone had to wear it. Mom wore it most of the time, but Addy volunteered to wear it at the airport.

The Curzons Visit

Jordan's sisters and Mom came to visit us in mid-March. They stayed with us for a few days. Heather was here the longest. Heather, Jeremiah, Addy, and I had some fun times. We went to the Aquarium here in Sandy and saw the fish and touched t he stingrays (okay we didn't touch them, but we could have, I was too scared). We went to a park, went for a walk, and went swimming.
Jeremiah was getting ready for a bath. Heather was drawing the bath water. Addy loved being with Jeremiah, so she was right there with them. Heather turned around for a second or went to get something and then she heard a splash and a cry. Addy had dove in head first into the bath, clothes and all. You can't tell here, but her clothes are drenched. She was a little scared, but not hurt. It was really funny.

When Myrna and Amber got here we hung out and had girl time (we invited Jordan for City of Angels). On Friday, we went maternity clothes shopping for Amber and Heather. Yes, they're both pregnant! Amber had an especially great shopping day finding 4 shirts and 2 pants, you know what I mean if you've ever been clothes shopping with her. Heather found 4 shirts, I think. On Saturday, we threw a baby shower for Amber at Aunt Barbara's house. We had a great turn out from family and friends. It was tons of fun. We got to guess who Amber wants her baby's features to come from. She received lots of much appreciated gifts. Good thing she brought an extra duffle to fly home with. We went shopping again with Amber after her shower and she found 4 more shirts. She really scored.

We all went to dinner at Cafe Rio in Provo before most of the clan went to Dancesport. Jordan and Addy saw "I am Legend" and Addy and I watched "Enchanted". We all enjoyed our evenings. It was really fun spending time with Jordan's family.

Trip to Balitimore and D.C.

Jordan, Addy, and I flew out to Baltimore to visit some friends at the end of February. We stayed with the Smutz family in Baltimore. Charles took us on a tour of D.C., taking the Marc Train down and the metro-rail once we got there. We were very glad to have him be our guide. We would have definitely gotten lost without him. We went to the Natural History Museum, National Archives, The Aviation Museum, and the Washington Monument. We were able to take an elevator to the top of the Washington Monument. That was really cool. We could see all of D.C. from there. It kind of swayed in the wind, so that was a little scary. I unfortunately didn't bring my camera to D.C., so I don't have any pictures of that.

I went down to D.C. by myself the next day, because Jordan was worn out. He doesn't like to be the tourist. He kept Addy at the Smutz's which was really nice. I didn't have to worry about anyone but myself. I went to the Holocaust Museum. I spent 4 hours there, without even noticing. I really enjoyed learning more about the Holocaust. My favorite part was at the end of the Permanent exhibit where there was a video of survivors telling their stories. I cried.

Addy liked Thomas. She loved his musical chair. When you sit on it, it plays a song and then the side table connected to it has a book that plays music as well. She's a music lover. I love how she squatted on the chair.

We also stayed and visited with the Dupre family in Gaithersburg, MD. Their kids are both so cute. Addy loved watching and following around Nathaniel. She especially liked it when he sang. We stayed with them for a few days. Ariana and I tried to go Geocaching. It didn't really work out because Ariana's TomTom kept trying to tell us to get back on the road rather than help us find the coordinates off the road. We never found the geocache, but still had a fun adventure.
