Trip to California

So, we traveled again. I love to travel to see family and friends. I'm limited in my number of airfares because of cost, so I was able to drive with my mom and sister and share the expenses. We went to visit my sister-in-law Natalia while my brother is in Afghanistan. They have two boys 3 and 6 and one girl who is 20 months. It was so much fun to chill with the women, since none of our husbands were present.

I realized how crazy a house can get with six children and how demanding of your time and energy they can be. And yet at other times it was nice because they played with each other so well. Yet there were four of us adults and it still seemed difficult at times. I can't even imagine what my mom went through when she had six kids 8 and under. I value what she did for all of us more and more as I become a more seasoned parent (I know, I only have one kid, so I have much seasoning to go).

While we were there we went to the beach, bowling, Trader Joe's (a health food store), and watched and voted for American Idol. We also got to talk to my brother James on the web-cam. It's amazing that he can be in a foreign country doing military service and we can still talk to him "face to face" twice a day.

The drive was long, more than 14 hours each way (don't know how it took that long), but it was definitely worth it. We loved spending time with cousins, sisters, and friends. I hope I'll continue to be able to visit family. I really value all of them and want to be able to keep strong relationships with them.
